BROOKLYN NINE-NINE

WELCOME FROM THE DIRECTOR

Hello Delegates!
I am Eshisha Java, Director for the Brooklyn Nine-Nine Committee.
Getting to direct the committee for one of my favourite shows is nothing less than exciting and I am looking forward to it. For most this committee might be new and you might have many questions, but honest to god you are in for a ride. There is tons of crisis with the fair share of fun!
Fictional committees work in a new way yet you feel extremely familiar with them, they provide a place for you to be more free but still not lose the touch with what you have always worked with. You still have your debates, fights, teaming up, negotiations, but what elevates this is that you are fighting for your favourite characters and against them, which you don’t often have the opportunity for. There is someone you hate, someone you love, but you never lose out.
What makes the committee so special is that it gives you the opportunity to do something that you usually don’t get.  Here, you form your own new reality with these familiar characters, it is a place that gives the chance to build on these stories and add a new dimension to them. It might be a fictional world, but everything that you take with you at the end of the day is real.
Any committee that you go to, by the end, you always take a lesson with you. There is always a learning experience in MUN, no matter where you end up and that’s what makes it so special.   There is space for everyone here, you might be new or been here more years than you can count, either way I’m so happy to welcome you and help you out! Can't wait for the journey you are about to go on!

ESHISHA JAVA

DIRECTOR

I started my MUN journey in 9th grade and I had no idea what I was getting into, but I’m grateful that not knowing what I was getting into didn’t stop me from going, because while it was nerve wracking, it was also a great experience. It was new and exciting but that’s the fun of MUN, it always provides you with something new and different. It challenges you to think extraordinarily and uniquely. And after that, I went in year after year making sure not to miss a day. Every year taught me something more, which helped me build the confidence and sharpen my skills.
Last year in the awe of trying something new, I decided to take up a fictional committee and venture, again no idea what I was headed into but decided to give it my best shot. Fictional committee was unlike others, nonetheless it always kept me on my toes and an affair to remember. And now here I am, writing this as a director, again getting back to when MUN challenges you extraordinarily! Before I was a delegate full of questions and now I’m here to guide new delegates and hopefully be of any help that I can be! Hoping this journey is fun for you as it is for me.
Happy MUN-ing!!

NAVYA SRINIVAS

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

Dear delegates,
Welcome to ISMMUN 2021! My name is Navya Srinivas, and I will be serving as the Assistant Director of the Brooklyn Nine-Nine Committee.
My first MUN experience was in 2019. Initially I was hesitant to register, but I did, anyway. I was assigned as the delegate of Italy, in the G20. Not being certain what the sessions were going to be like, I chose to be an observer, for the most part. By the end, I had experienced a whole new world, and was able to learn immensely. Though my vocal participation was minimal, I received the ‘Best Position Paper’ award. In 2020, the first fictional committee was introduced at ISMMUN. I was intrigued, and I decided to participate. I was amazed to see that it maintained the intensity of a MUN, but at the same time, was fun and lighthearted. This encouraged me to speak up more than I did in the previous year.
MUN has played a colossal role in bringing me out of my comfort zone and boosting my confidence in public speaking. It is an amazing opportunity and a great learning experience which will help you better numerous skills. Your debating ability, along with creative thinking and problem solving competencies, will allow you to excel in the sessions. I hope that each one of you gives your best to speak up, and puts forward your thoughts, but also enjoys, regardless.
Being my first time in the DAIS, I hope that this conference proves to be an enriching experience for me, and for you. I wish that you take away a lot of incredible memories. I can’t wait to see you all!
Good Luck!
