UNITED NATIONS OFFICE FOR OUTER SPACE AFFAIRS

WELCOME FROM THE DIRECTOR

Dear Delegates
It is my honor to be this year’s Director of UNOOSA (United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs) and my absolute pleasure to welcome you all to MUN-21! I hope that me and the Asst Director, Kashish Mittal make your MUN experience a valuable one.
Being a part of any committee is not easy, it requires courage and a bit of research. In the UNOOSA committee, we will be discussing about our world’s space affairs and which will be able to provide you all with an excellent insight into the world’s space technologies and advancements. Surely many of you wonder what happens in space, though we would not be debating about aliens but we will be able to recognize what are we, humans are doing in the outer space.
MUN instills a sense of accomplishment in you and makes you a better leader for the future. It helps you understand problems and helps you all to tackle them smoothly.
We are impatiently waiting to meet you all in the upcoming MUN sessions, and I hope you all enjoy your MUN experience. Happy MUNing!

REEM ASIF KASMANI

DIRECTOR

“Hard work, betrays none” – HACHIMAN HIKIGAYA
I am Reem Asif Kasmani, the Director of United Nations Office For Outer Space (UNOOSA). I would love to welcome you all to MUN 21! This will be my third year participating in MUN.
The first year, I represented Thailand in DISEC committee. Although I did not win any accolades, I thoroughly enjoyed the session and looked forward the next year’s MUN. The 2nd year I was the delegate of Russia in the SPECPOL committee, I was one of the names in verbal mentions. In the 2nd year I had enthusiastically participated rather than my first year. I had also participated in an outside MUN held by IYDS.
MUN Has helped me in a lot of things, I have become more knowledgeable about the world and has increased my understanding of problems of political world. MUN has also helped me make new friends.
MUN makes us ready for the future. I hope to see you all in the coming session!
Best of luck!

KASHISH MITTAL

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

I, Kashish Mittal, am honoured and delighted to serve as the Assistant Director of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) this year. It is my sincere pleasure to welcome you to ISM MUN 2021.
My MUN journey began when I first posed as the delegate of South Sudan at DISEC in ISM MUN 2018. Though I did not win any awards, I learned a lot from the other delegates and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. In my second MUN, which was ISM MUN 2019, I represented Mexico at UNICEF and bagged The Best Position Paper.
Last year in ISM MUN 2020, as the delegate of Nigeria at SOCHUM, I actively took part in the committee discussions. My efforts had paid off when I received the Honourable Delegate award.
MUN has not only provided me with a platform to improve my debating and critical thinking skills, but it also sparked my curiosity in world politics. It has turned me into a confident individual who is well aware of the current issues and problems faced by the world. For those of you who are new to MUNs, initially the research and rules of procedure may seem overwhelming, the committee conference may seem daunting, but eventually you will get a hang of it. MUN has made a huge impact on me, and I can guarantee you that you too will enjoy and benefit from it.
I look forward to meeting you all, Happy Mun-ing!
