WELCOME FROM THE DIRECTOR

Hello delegates!
So, you’ve finally made it to ISM MUN 2021! and mark my words, this will be one of the best experiences you’ve had in a while. First of all, I would like to welcome you all to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). I’m Ayaan Khan and I will be the Director of the committee alongside Tushar Goli, our Assistant Director.
The MUN experience will undoubtedly be an all-round one where you will not only experience heated debates and arguments but also the informal apologies which add a little fun and laughter to the session. It will help you grow as a speaker and hone your diplomacy and negotiating skills. Most importantly it will help you boost your confidence and leadership skills and teach you what it takes to represent a country and achieve consensus. The United Nations Security Council’s main objective is to maintain international peace and security by providing peaceful means and recommending terms of settlement. This experience will surely give you deep insights into the world’s most high-profile cases and will surely help you engage in such issues in the future.
In order to have a fruitful session you will have to prepare well and actively participate during the conference. It is also important to have a clear understanding of the topics and do not hesitate to express yourself. Do not worry we will be helping you throughout your researching process and I’m pretty sure all of y’all will put in the effort and hard work.

AYAAN ATIF KHAN

DIRECTOR

My first ever experience was back during ISMMUN 2019 when I was appointed the delegate of United Kingdom for UNSC so I think I can relate to most of you. As expected, I was really nervous and all the rules and regulations seemed quite confusing to me which added to my nervousness. But eventually, I became comfortable and soon everything seemed really exciting. It helped me win the honorable delegate award that year and this really helped boost my morale and I decided to do even better in ISMUN 2020.
This time around I was appointed as the delegate of Russia for UNSC and did a lot of research on my countries as well as others and expressed myself to the fullest on both days and this helped me acquire the best delegate award that year. One thing I have learnt is to never hesitate to speak up even if you are afraid that you might go wrong somewhere. But most importantly you will have to do some good research on your topics, your allies as well as those countries against you in order to back up everything you speak.
MUN really helped me grow as an individual and in ways I hadn’t imagined. In the end whatever may be the result make sure that you have given your best and most importantly do not forget to enjoy and I’m sure you will make a lot of memories on this journey and this will truly be an experience of a lifetime. Best of Luck!

TUSHAR GOLI

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

I am Tushar Gautam Goli of Class 12-A, and this is going to be my fourth year in ISM MUN. It's going to be an honour serving as the Assistant Director of the the United Nations Security council (UNSC). Besides MUN my interest lies in sports, quizzes and books.

My MUN journey started in 2018 when I was given the country Japan in the Special Political and Decolonization Committee. I learned So much about the on going crisis in Guam as well as Country Laws. In 2019 I got to be the Islamic republic of Iran in the Disarmament and International Security Council. Finally in 2020 I got United States of America in the Special Political and Decolonization Committee (SPECPOL). Where we had heated debates and I ended up winning the best delegate.

This long journey in ISMMUN has not only taught me the value of hard work but also helped me develop on my debating skills as well as improve my instant decision making. MUN is a platform where you are given a country and you have to fight for it like every patriotic citizen of their respective country. It helps you get an insight of the on going situations in the world and also helps better your understanding on the world laws. This MUN experience is one of the best high school experiences of my life and I would suggest every student to take part extensively in ISMMUN 2021. All the best and happy MUN’ing.
