INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE

WELCOME FROM THE DIRECTOR

It is my proud privilege to welcome you to the International Court of Justice. This year, I, Anant Agrawal and Advika Rana will be the Director and Assistant Director of the ICJ, respectively.
MUN is a platform for delegates to learn more affairs that confront different parts of the world, to embrace your diplomatic and articulation skills, and enhance your teambuilding and cooperation abilities. The key ingredients to every MUN is preparation, heated debates, a sense of responsibility, mix of confidence and nervousness, and tons of fun. The MUN experience is truly exhilarating and holistic in itself.
At the International Court of Justice, you will be emboldened by curiosity and resolve for coming to a consensus. Being part of the ICJ requires the art of thinking on your toes, teamwork and most importantly, a strong sense of justice. In taking up your roles as judges, advocates and witnesses, you will acquire knowledge that goes far beyond your textbooks. At the end of your time at the ICJ, you will have taken with you an experience of a lifetime.
We look forward to seeing you all in action and having a session packed with energy, zeal and zest. See you in ISMMUN 2021!

ANANT AGRAWAL

DIRECTOR

A warm welcome to the International Court of Justice(ICJ)! I, Anant Agrawal will be directing ICJ for ISMMUN 2021.
Let me begin with my history in ISMMUN. This is my 4th year being a part of this wonderful and lifechanging activity, my 3rd year as member of ICJ and the 1st year as the DAIS. Back in 2018, I began this journey by representing Indonesia in SPECPOL. My nerves took the better of me and I couldn’t perform. Nevertheless, it helped me grasp the fact that an MUN is more than just gaining knowledge. It is the art of taking a stand and of not losing our cool even in seemingly nail-biting situations. With this new understanding, I successfully won the best position paper award in 2019 and bagged the Best Delegate award in 2020.
Every MUN in general and ISMMUN in particular that I have been a part of, has been an exhilarating experience. It has personally allowed me to imbibe skills such as debating, fighting nervousness, and even report making. More than anything else, ISMMUN will allow you to be responsible and to be an adult in body of a teenager. And believe me, with a truckload of preparation, comes loads of fun. I assure you that you will not leave disappointed and ISMMUN 2021 will be etched in your memory forever. Looking forward to working with you!

ADVIKA RANA

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

Welcome to ismmun2021! I am Advika Rana, and I am thrilled to be your asst director for this year.
Back to 2018 and 2019 when I was the delegate of the democratic republic of congo for UNHCR and the delegate of Ukraine for DISEC, nerves were definitely a part of me, but even more was my excitement for this new experience. From the moderated caucuses to the crisis, it was an experience that I will never forget.
Last year I was the judge for the International Court of Justice, and it was an enthralling experience. being in an unconventional committee for the first time was definitely something I was looking forward to. From questioning advocates and witnesses to passing the judgement every bit of the session was as riveting as it could ever be.
My experience at the ISMMUN has been a rollercoaster of a ride. For me, ISMMUN isn’t about winning best delegate or being competitive. Its about voicing your opinions, being in the shoes of the diplomats and politicians who represent their country at the united nations, it’s about understanding the core problems of the world and coming together and resolving them. As your assistant director I can assure you that your experience at the ISMUN will be nonetheless amazing
Looking forward to working and knowing each and every one of you all. Happy MUN’ing!
